Despite the tight historical links between science and philosophy, hearkening back to Plato, Aristotle, and others (here evoked with Raphael’s famous School of Athens), present-day scientists often perceive philosophy as completely different from, and even antagonistic to, science. The kidney bowl, now built in skateparks across the world, originated in Finland as a natural form swimming pool. The pool was recreated in California a decade later and became a backyard staple across Southern California, where it was discovered by skateboarders and recreated as a bowl for their own enjoyment, even returning back to its homeland in 2011.
